100 Days Of Observing Divine Beauty

All Days | Day by Day | Author Login

At the end of 2015 my wife Wendy and I embarked on a mid-life adventure - moving to Europe from NZ. For my 100 days project I plan to post pictures, captions and quotes, reflecting the beauty I have discovered here in my new home. Sometimes the photos will be new. Other days I may curate a moment, a day, or a theme from pictures taken over the past 18 months. My project is inspired by John O'Donoghue's "Divine Beauty", a book which speaks of the secret wisdom of creation expressed in the ever present beauty that surrounds us. - Alastair Thompson 22nd May 2017

Day 12 - Raphael

Raphael is a rescued cat we found while walking in France who now lives with our friend John. As the middle of winter approached at the close of 2016, we came across Raphael, then about three weeks old, sitting in the middle of a farm road. He had been abandoned by his mother and he had no strength to move. He weighed almost nothing and was riddled with worms. He would have been dead within days if not hours. These photos were all taken when Raphael was still a kitten and after he had been to the vet and been loved back into life. He has since grown rather a lot, but remains pretty wild. He lives in a large wild section too and is very happy. He was gorgeous as a kitten and is still pretty gorgeous now.
